Modi trying to change colonial hangover

It is true that the Government of India had become the exclusive domain of the IAS. It is however, also true that PM Modi has been trying to change this colonial hangover. This year, a lot of non IAS officers were pleasantly surprised at getting invites for the Civil Service Day. This was the first time invites were given out to them regardless of not being in the IAS. Things are changing. Many non IAS officers are now being posted as Joint Secretaries (even though ten years later than their batchmates in the IAS). Only PM Modi can change the colonial mindset in the bureaucracy.

Will DRM take call of an ordinary passenger ?

I travel a lot by car. At times I have had to speak to the concerned DMs/SPs on their CUG numbers and they have invariably responded. Wonder if a DRM would take the call of an ordinary passenger ?

Transfer of RTI Application to several PIOs

A complaint was filed with the CIC alleging that the information sought was not provided and the complainant’s RTI application was transferred to several CPIOs who did not revert in a positive way. The CIC advised the public authority to desist from these kinds of practices which defeats the very purpose and motive of the RTI Act.

Comments

It is a common practice in the headquarters of many organisations to transfer the RTI applications received at their end to different sub-ordinate offices carelessly. Such a blind redirection of the RTI applications needs to be curbed as the same is not envisaged under the Act.
