Tax Talk in Bhopal boosts awareness on new Income Tax Act, 2025 (UPDATED)

In a significant push for taxpayer education ahead of the full rollout of the new Income Tax Act, 2025, the Income Tax Department’s Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh) hosted a mega outreach programme titled “Tax Talk – A Discussion on New Income Tax Act, 2025” at Kushabhau Thakre Hall on April 27.

Under the guidance of Principal Chief Commissioner Mona Mohanty, the event brought together senior officials including Commissioner Ram Kumar Yadav, Additional Commissioner Gunjan Varshney, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chetan Sharma, and Income Tax Officer (PR) Naved Shafqat, alongside dignitaries such as Bijoy Kumar Panda, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), and Chief Commissioner Rahul Raman.

Tax professionals, chartered accountants, business leaders, industry representatives, and a large gathering of taxpayers attended the interactive session. Presentations clarified key provisions, simplifications, compliance requirements, and taxpayer-friendly measures introduced in the new Act, which replaced the six-decade-old 1961 legislation effective April 1, 2026, aiming for greater clarity and ease of compliance.

In her keynote, Mohanty reiterated the department’s commitment to a transparent, accessible, and taxpayer-friendly regime through awareness and cooperation. The programme marked the first in a series, with similar outreach events planned across 12 locations in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between April 28 and 30, 2026, to widen public engagement. This proactive initiative underscores the department’s focus on smooth transition and collaborative tax governance in the region.
