Amit Shah to Convene Six-State Meeting to Finalize Kishau Dam Pact

Sourcse suggest Union Home Minister Amit Shah is convening a high-level meeting with the Chief Ministers and representatives of six states—Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi—to finalize the long-pending Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project.  

​The ₹15,000-crore project, situated on the Tons River along the Himachal Pradesh–Uttarakhand border, will generate 422 MW of hydroelectric power, irrigate 97,000 hectares, and provide 517 million cubic metres of drinking water annually, significantly aiding the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River.  

​The discussions aim to formalize an agreement ending an eight-year deadlock over cost and benefit sharing. Under the consensus framework, the Central Government will finance 90% of the water component, while downstream states—Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana—will absorb Himachal’s share of the power costs in exchange for water allocations, clearing the path for a formal Memorandum of Understanding and Union Cabinet approval.
