BJP digital shake-up: Amit Malviya exits IT cell, but there is a catch!

In an organizational overhaul directed by the party's top leadership, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has replaced longtime digital head Amit Malviya after more than a decade at the helm of its national IT cell. Sources indicate that the decisive intervention followed a noticeable drop in the BJP’s digital reach and online narrative control compared to an emboldened Congress and fast-growing youth-led pressure groups like the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Under Malviya’s tenure, the BJP’s digital communication dominated Indian political discourse. However, shifting social media dynamics and emerging viral political movements eroded the party's online supremacy, prompting central leaders to install party veteran Deepak Mhaskey to revamp digital strategy.

Despite his removal from national IT operations, Malviya's political journey within the party is far from over. Retaining his position as co-incharge for West Bengal, where he previously helped steer key election campaigns, he is slated to transition into a prominent organizational role within the state BJP leadership unit. The strategic redeployment signals the leadership’s effort to modernize its digital apparatus while refocusing Malviya’s aggressive campaign management on critical regional election battlegrounds.
