CJI declines Rahul Gandhi-led delegation over sub-judice issues
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) has declined a meeting request from Rahul Gandhi and a Congress delegation, conveying the decision via an official email. According to sources, the CJI explained that holding such discussions would be inappropriate because the underlying matters are already pending adjudication before the Supreme Court. The communication underscored that the judiciary cannot interfere administratively in government functioning.
Rather than submitting an administrative memorandum, the leaders were advised to file a formal judicial petition before the court. The CJI’s response indicated that should such petitions be filed; they will be taken up for hearing on Tuesday alongside the applications already pending in the matter.
