DRDO opens conventional missile tech transfer to boost domestic defence manufacturing

In a decisive move to accelerate self-reliance in defence production, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the Transfer of Technology (ToT) for all conventional missile systems designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This policy enables qualified private and public sector domestic enterprises to manufacture sophisticated, laboratory-tested weapon platforms on an industrial scale.

Under this new framework, certified Indian companies gain direct access to cutting-edge missile technology, enabling local production while adhering to stringent regulatory and quality compliance standards. By transitioning advanced military hardware from research laboratories to local assembly lines, the Ministry of Defence aims to drastically expand domestic manufacturing capacity, streamline supply chains, and minimize reliance on external defence suppliers.
