Govt revokes suspension of CRPF Deputy Inspector General Patra

The President has approved revocation of the suspension of CRPF DIG Bidhan Chandra Patra, who had been suspended in June following social-media posts relating to the CAPF legislation. CRPF issued the reinstatement order after MHA directed withdrawal of the suspension on 27 August. The Patra episode, coming amid the CAPF cadre-IPS-deputation dispute, has again brought the question of career progression, service conditions and disciplinary procedures within CAPFs into focus.
