India acts beyond call of duty for Nepal !

India’s decision to boost electricity exports to Nepal through late December underscores a relationship anchored in pragmatic solidarity. Following severe floods that crippled Nepal’s domestic hydropower generation, New Delhi moved swiftly to approve up to 600 MW via the Muzaffarpur–Dhalkebar transmission line and 54 MW through the Tanakpur–Mahendranagar corridor for 18 hours daily.

This timely intervention highlights that despite periodic diplomatic friction and political shifts, India remains Nepal’s most dependable first responder. Beyond stabilizing Nepal’s national grid and shielding its economy from acute energy shortages, the initiative reinforces the growing depth of cross-border energy cooperation.
