MEA denies political clearance for Telangana CM Revanth Reddy's US trip
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) denied political clearance for Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's proposed visit to the United States. Responding to media queries, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that foreign visits by chief ministers and other dignitaries are routinely evaluated before political clearance is granted.
Jaiswal explained that the proposed programme for official overseas travel must be appropriate to the office held and align with the purpose of the visit. In this case, the ministry determined that the schedule submitted for the US leg did not meet these parameters. However, the ministry confirmed that political clearance had been granted for Reddy's trip to the United Kingdom.
The US trip was planned as part of the "Telangana Rising" initiative to engage with top global academic institutions. Following the Centre's decision, the Chief Minister's Office announced that Reddy would cancel his US travel and return to Hyderabad, while directing his official delegation to proceed with scheduled meetings.
