Mutual Fund AUM crosses ₹87 lakh crore in Aug; SIP accounts top 10 crore
India’s mutual fund industry continued its growth trajectory in August 2026, with total assets under management (AUM) rising 1.5% month-on-month to ₹87.08 lakh crore, according to AMFI–Crisil Intelligence data.
The industry recorded a net inflow of ₹41,354 crore across all categories during the month. Equity mutual funds remained a key driver, attracting ₹29,329 crore, marking the 66th consecutive month of net equity inflows.
A major milestone was recorded in systematic investment plans (SIPs), with contributing SIP accounts crossing the 10-crore mark for the first time. SIP assets stood at ₹18.62 lakh crore, equivalent to 21.4% of the industry's total AUM.
Passive funds registered inflows of ₹10,948 crore, while hybrid funds attracted ₹10,045 crore. Debt funds, meanwhile, recorded an outflow of ₹8,127 crore, following an exceptional inflow of ₹1,87,511 crore in July. Liquid and money market funds continued to receive inflows.
The total number of mutual fund folios increased by 26.54 lakh during August to 28.35 crore. Equity assets stood at ₹39.21 lakh crore, while debt, passive and hybrid assets stood at ₹19.33 lakh crore, ₹15.42 lakh crore and ₹11.86 lakh crore, respectively.
The industry also recorded its 60th consecutive month of positive flows into multi-asset allocation funds, reflecting continued investor participation in diversified fund categories.
