Yogi model of law & order- The state of UP has scripted history on  the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2022 

On the insistence & pursuance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath this time namaz was not offered on the roads anywhere in the state. This not only prevented public inconvenience but also disruption of traffic. The Eid prayers were held at the Idgah or other customary place. In many areas, where there was less space in mosques and Idgahs, people offered prayers in separate shifts.

Another milestone for the state was taking down of more than 64,000 loudspeakers from religious places without creating any law and order situation. 

This is no mean achievement and shall go down in the annals of law & order as a golden achievement since these two issues are very emotive & have led to communal riots in the past. 

Amidst all the law and order preoccupations & VVIP visits, election management in 2021, fifty seven festivals of all religions were celebrated peacefully across the state. 

Due to its multi-religious & multi cultural population, a bewildering variety of festivals like Makar Sankranti, Ravidas Jayanti, Holi, Shab-e-barat, Shivratri, Bakrid, Good Friday, Ambedkar Jayanti, Baisakhi, Barawafat, Balmiki Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti can be a veritable nightmare for any custodian of law and order. 

The above challenges have been adroitly faced and handled  by the chief minister directly at the helm of affairs  and his selected band of trusted officers like ACS Home Awanish Awasthi and ADG LO Prashant Kumar.

It is clear even to a layman that the above two officers have toiled hard day and night to execute the vision of the Govt on the ground into reality. Their hard work, unquestionable loyalty to the Govt & agenda-less work ethic have earned these bureaucrats the confidence of the chief minister like none ever before. 

Prashant Kumar’s task at the DGP Headquarters is an onerous one as he has to strike a fine balance between the protocol of the department & the dictates of the CM. The whispers in the corridors suggest  that despite his proximity to the chief minister, Prashant Kumar has not become a power centre unto himself and gives proper regard to the DGP UP Mukul Goyal & also treads a fine balance with other ADG’s in the zones. 

What also goes to his credit is his integrity, 24/7 availability for the district police chiefs, immediate response in any law and order situation and prompt communication through media. 

But even with such competent commanders, had the chief minister chief minister not given a free hand to his law and order team the law and order situation in the state would have been chaotic as during the preceding regime: 

The chief minister’s leadership from the front, his micro management, protection given to honest officers and ruthless action against black sheep has  created an unparalleled ecosystem for a robust law and order which is evolving a new paradigm of law and order in the country.
