Retd IPS officer Mrityunjay Kumar Singh to join Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan

Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, IPS (Retd.), a 1987-batch officer of the West Bengal cadre, will be joining as the Director of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kolkata Kendra from 1st August, 2026. The Bhavan's have two big schools, a Management Institute, a Kala Kendra and a sports academy in West Bengal.

Mrityunjay had a distinguished career spanning policing, governance, diplomacy and cultural administration. He served as Superintendent of Police of Murshidabad and undivided Midnapore, Director in the Ministry of External Affairs handling Bangladesh affairs, Regional Passport officer, and Counsellor (Culture) at the Embassy of India in Jakarta (Indonesia), where he curated a three month long 'Festival of India'.
