TVK govt in TN bridges gap with Centre; Vijay eyes better tax devolution
In a significant political recalibration, Tamil Nadu's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government under Vijay has reportedly reached a tacit administrative understanding with the Central government. Seeking to foster cordial Centre-State relations, the state administration is prioritizing enhanced tax devolution and cooperative federalism over confrontational politics.
According to sources, this strategic alignment is being steered by a core advisory team of two distinguished former bureaucrats. Retired IAS officer U. Sagayam, renowned for his strict anti-corruption record during his service in the state, is shaping the government's new governance and transparency frameworks. Concurrently, retired IPS officer M. Ravi is advising the leadership on streamlining state security, law enforcement, and administrative structures.
Through official backchannels, this advisory panel is reportedly in close contact with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan. The move signals a pragmatic shift for the TVK administration, leveraging technocratic expertise to secure Tamil Nadu’s financial and developmental interests in New Delhi.
