Rohit Jain Appointed RBI Deputy Governor

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rohit Jain as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a period of three years. The appointment comes at a time when the central bank continues to navigate a complex macroeconomic environment marked by inflation management challenges, global monetary tightening, and evolving financial sector risks.

Rohit Jain brings with him extensive experience in banking, financial regulation, and economic policy, which is expected to strengthen the RBI’s leadership team. As Deputy Governor, he will play a crucial role in shaping monetary policy implementation, overseeing regulatory frameworks, and ensuring financial stability across sectors.

The RBI’s Deputy Governors are key decision-makers within the central bank, assisting the Governor in core functions including supervision of banks and non-banking financial institutions, currency management, and policy transmission.
